Resumo em outra língua: Reading literary texts contributes to the formation of the creative and autonomous reader, since the horizons proposed by literature are unlimited and their interpretations, given the plurisignificative nature of literary texts, infinite. Literary literacy, according to Paulino and Cosson (2009), is a process of appropriation of literature as a literary construction of meanings. In this way, literature fills a unique place with regard to language, since “literature has the power to metamorphose itself into all [possible] discursive forms. And this is because literature is an experience to be performed” (COSSON, 2012), providing, from literary texts, a privileged way of insertion in the world of reading and writing. For literacy, from the social revolutionary point of view highlighted by Soares (2003), to actually be developed, the school must provide students with contact with different literary texts and, above all, be concerned with how this reading is being encouraged by teachers and carried out by students. This article presents some reflections from a graduation research in development of the Post-Graduate Program in Education at the Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto, which aims to identify and analyze the methods, the ways of reading children's literature that lead students the meanings of the works in the early years of elementary school in the Municipal Education Network in the city of Itabirito, in Minas Gerais. The theoretical references are studies on new literacy, based on and developed by researchers in the field, and investigations following the development of different forms of literacy, such as the concept of literary literacy. We believe that with this research we will better understand the literature schooling process and we will point out some alternatives so that literature can be worked in school as art, as an aesthetic proposal.
